Owen Carlson
I make functional pottery, primarily dinnerware such as mugs, cups, bowls, and plates. All my pots are made by me, by hand, in my basement in Reno NV.
I am a self-taught potter. Most of what I know has been gathered from a number of online resources and every book I can get my hands on, along with a good bit of advice and insight from other potters I have met. Anything that I haven't been able to sort out from reading and listening, I have figured out at my wheel or workbench in my basement after a lot of trial and error.
Each batch of work is in one way or another better than the last. So for the time being at least, it seems that the proper course of action is to just keep making more and more pots.
